About Us

Walking the Path of Dharma Together

The Bangladeshi Buddhist Community of New York Inc (BBC-NY) was founded to unite Bangladeshi Buddhist families in the New York area. We preserve our Buddhist heritage, practice the Buddha's teachings, and build a supportive sangha (community) far from home.

We organize Buddhist religious observances, meditation sessions, dharma talks, and cultural celebrations. Our mission is to help our community maintain their spiritual practice while raising children with Buddhist values in America.

What Our Sangha Says

Hear from families who have found spiritual community and connection at BBC-NY.

BBC-NY has been a blessing for our family. The Buddha Purnima celebrations remind us of home, and our children are learning dharma alongside other Buddhist kids. This sangha is our spiritual family.

The meditation sessions and dharma talks have deepened my practice. It's wonderful to have a sangha that understands our Bangladeshi Buddhist traditions and keeps them alive here in New York.

The Kathina ceremony was beautiful! My kids participated in offering robes to the monks. It's so important they experience these traditions even though we live far from Bangladesh.

Our Mission

Preserving the Dharma in America

BBC-NY is dedicated to preserving and sharing the Buddha's teachings with our community. We help second-generation Bangladeshi Buddhists connect with their spiritual heritage while adapting to life in America.

Through meditation sessions, dharma talks, and traditional ceremonies, we create a space where families can practice together and children can learn the values of compassion, mindfulness, and wisdom.
